From 2011 to 2024, Atsumi & Sakai seconded lawyers to A-PAC International Law Firm (APAC), a leading Vietnamese law firm in Hanoi with particular experience in handling negotiations with Vietnamese government authorities. Building on this experience, in July 2024 we established a new office - Atsumi & Sakai Vietnam Law Firm - in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, one of the largest economic centres in Southeast Asia. The office will advise on both Japanese and Vietnamese law and is headed by Japanese partner Mr. Katsunori Irie, assisted by Vietnamese lawyer Ms. Thi Ngoc Anh Mai* and Japanese lawyer Mr. Taisuke Oikawa.

Our Ho Chi Minh City office is assisted in Tokyo by lawyers with experience of Vietnam matters, including Mr. Wataru Kamihigashi, who spent 2 years on secondment to APAC. Our Ho Chi Minh City office, working with our Tokyo Vietnam team, is able to meet the various local needs of Japanese companies, providing high-quality legal services in a wide variety of business areas, including support for business expansion, M&A and corporate reorganization, negotiations with government authorities, corporate legal affairs, labor, dispute resolution, withdrawal, and legal research.
