New York Affiliate Office

 

Atsumi & Sakai has decades of experience in advising clients based in North and South America in particular in the fields of M&A, Dispute Resolution, Banking and Capital Markets. We were the first Japanese law firm to admit a non-Japanese partner, Ms. Bonnie Dixon, who heads our New York Affiliate Office.  Ms. Dixon will divide her time between New York and Japan. The office primarily will advise on Japanese law supported by our teams in Tokyo, London and elsewhere, all in cooperation with top local US law firms that have supported us and our clients so far.  

 

Transactions members of our team have advised on include:   Representation of both corporations and individuals in connection with global alleged price fixing and market segmentation. Representation of numerous US corporations in connection with the sale or purchase of assets and companies located in Japan. Representation of Japanese plaintiffs in a major class action lawsuit brought in the First Circuit, including in connection with an appeal, the first time that a Japanese law firm acted as named counsel on behalf of Japanese plaintiffs in a US litigation. Representation of over 60 non-Japanese institutional investors in a successful lawsuit against Olympus Corporation brought in Tokyo District Court to recover losses in share value due to fraud. Representation of numerous non-Japanese corporations in connection with corporate governance and employment matters in Japan.
