Labor Authorities
Authorities such as the Labor Offices and Labor Standards Inspection Offices have the authority to advise and instruct companies on compliance with labor and employment laws, and can issue instructions for corrective action and disclose the name of a company violating those laws.
Reports from workers or labor unions may trigger investigations by the authorities over issues such as illegal overtime, a subject of increasingly strict oversight, and harassment, an area where the law has been reinforced through recent amendments. Failure to handle such investigations appropriately may result in individuals and companies being referred to prosecutors.
A number of our lawyers are former prosecutors and can provide both practical and legal advice and support in dealing with labor authorities.
