Mid-level Associate - Admitted in New York, California or England

Leading Tokyo law firm Atsumi & Sakai is looking to recruit an experienced associate (qualification in New York, California or England preferred) to work in its award-winning cross-border practice. The successful candidate will work with the Firm’s team of highly-regarded partners on an increasing volume of domestic and cross-border matters requiring English language proficiency. Such candidate will assist those partners with both research and drafting research in cutting-edge practice areas such as international litigation and arbitration, export control and sanctions, information technology and cyber security, and a wide range of regulatory and enforcement matters.

 

 

Eligibility
  • 2-4 years’ experience with a reputable law firm, preferably including at least two years of practice post license in the jurisdiction of license prior to arriving in Japan
  • Significant exposure to research and drafting in litigation and regulatory matters
  • A native English-speaker
  • Willing to commit to working in Japan for at least 2 years

 

Japanese language skills are not required, though a genuine interest in working in Japan would be a definite plus. The Firm would happy to consider taking a suitable lawyer on secondment from a reputable law firm.

Salary and other compensation
  • To be determined based on skills and experience, but not less than 10 million yen.

Work location The successful applicant will work at Atsumi & Sakai’s office in central Tokyo.
