[Seminar] “Disclosure Regulations on the Offering of Securities — Practices and Important Issues”: Takafumi Uematsu

Russell K. Kawahara, a Registered Foreign Lawyer (for the laws of the State of California, and the federal laws of the United States of America), has been promoted to the position of Partner at the Firm, as of November 16, 2010.

Tier 1 for “Structured Finance / Securitisation” in the 2010/2011 edition of The Asia Pacific Legal 500 / Partners Hiroo Atsumi named as “Leading Individuals” in the fields.

With merger into our firm of Mr. Yutaka Sakai and seven other attorneys, the name of our firm was changed from Atsumi & Partners to “Atsumi & Sakai” as of November 1.

Based on a survey of some 15,000 in-house counsel across Asia and the Middle East, ASIAN-COUNSEL magazine has named Atsumi & Partners as "Firm of the Year 2010" in Japan in the area of Banking & Finance.

In a case where Toyoki Emoto and Shintaro Hamasu acted as representatives to file a petition for civil rehabilitation proceedings, the rehabilitation plan, passed at the meeting of creditors on July 15, 2010.

A private settlement was reached on August 9, 2010 with the consent of all concerned financial institutions, with involvement of Toyoki Emoto and the involvement of the Fukushima Prefecture Small and Medium Enterprise Rehabilitation Support Council.
