Measures following the declaration of a state of emergency

On January 7, the government of Japan declared a state of emergency for the regions of Tokyo, Saitama Prefecture and Chiba Prefecture. Accordingly, as suggested by the government of Japan from January 12, Atsumi & Sakai will enhance teleworking for our lawyers and staff to reduce the number of people coming to the office to 30% or less. During this time, due to continuation of staggered commuting hours for staff, our reception area will be open, conference rooms will be available and we will be reachable at our main telephone number from 11:00 to 16:00.

While our lawyers work from home, they can be contacted by email and online meeting systems, and via their direct phone number, and mobile phone number, as usual.

In order to prevent the spread of infection, we ask that meetings with our lawyers and staff be held online or via teleconference to avoid personal contact as much as possible. If a face-to-face meeting is to be held at our offices, we ask that you disinfect your hands, wear a mask (both hand disinfectant and masks are always available in our reception area), and agree to take your body temperature using a thermographic body temperature measuring system or non-contact thermometer when you visit. (No data is stored from the body temperature check.) Please note that you may be asked to refrain from having a meeting if you are found to have a temperature of 37°C or higher.
In addition, during the continuance of the state of emergency, our lawyers and employees are not permitted to attend meals, whether among ourselves or with contacts from outside the firm, as a rule.  We appreciate your understanding in advance.

Depending on the future status of infection, we may need to take additional measures in order to minimize the risk for our clients and employees. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
